My stomach is jumping...thoughts?

Answered on August 19, 2014

In the past this has only been a tell-tale sign of glutening (I am Celiac), but I have been cooking all my own meals for the past week or so, so I am confident this isn't the case. Has anyone else experienced this?

My diet has consisted of:

Ground Chuck Chicken Breast Ground Turkey Bacon Mango Blackberries Apple Macadamia Nut Butter Egg (one day) Spinach Celery Cucumber Cabbage Coconut Butter Coconut Cream

If it matters, I exercise a lot. I train weights 5x/week and I play lacrosse 4 days a week (2 practices and 2 game days).

just realized that the question was posted over a month ago... have your symptoms subsided?

even if nothing is new, make sure you double-check everything that comes in contact with your mouth and skin! you may have been symptom-free for a while (even if you were being glutened) and now your body may be just starting to display symptoms!

Cabbage is raw, but has been part of my diet for about a month or so. The macadamias have only been eaten every other day or so, and only about 1/2oz at a time.

Literally nothing is new, that is my dilemma. I did a week of bio-k probiotics which ended almost 2 weeks ago.

Are you using new toothpaste? Drinking anything like flavored tea? Any supplements? What spices do you use? You actually have to examine EVERYTHING in your house!!!

What kind of symptoms do you have exactly?

Are you sharing your kitchen with gluten-eating people?? Are you using the same kitchen equipment as you used to prior to your Paleo/gluten-free diet? Could there still be tiny breadcrumbs in your drawers contaminating your food? Do you lick envelopes or stamps (the glue is wheat-based)! Have you had a look at all your personal care products (lipstick, make-up, shampoo, etc)? Are you feeding some of your pet wheat/gluten-containing pet food?

If gluten is really not the cause of your symptoms, you may look into FODMAPs (found in your apple, cabbage, nuts, berries, mango, celery) and SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth common in people with digestive disorders like celiac disease).

Looks like a lot of PUFA to me. How's your fat-soluble vitamin intake?

I recently had a similar reaction when I ate (what I now realize was too many) macadamia nuts.

It's hard to say, though. How was the cabbage prepared? The cruciferous veggies can be tough to digest.
