Does anyone do Les Mills Bodypump? I read on here some folks bag it and say it's not like crossfit or heavy lifting, but it's not a fair comparison. I've been doing it for a few years and really enjoy it. I love the trainers and class atmosphere. I feel I've improved with my squats/lunges etc. I also do weights in the gym and other classes such as a bootcamp style and cardio boxing. Love to hear other people's opinion:-)

I did Body Pump regularly many years ago when I lived in London. I thought it was an absolutely awesome workout, ... highly recommended. However although promoted as a workout suitable for everyone I think those of "a certain age" (55+) might find it too taxing.
Oh, as you probably know Body Pump is choreographed to pop music. Sometimes the music is great, sometimes it is grating (to anyone who doesn't frequent the 18-30 club scene). But any bad music is must a minor annoyance.

Glad to hear you loved doing Pump. Yeah, the dodgy cover versions of some songs were sooo bad. The Bon Jovi ones were just wrong ha ha.
I've seen the infomercials and it looks fun but so fast, I'm not sure about safety (for me--obviously others have better coordination and balance).
I love doing ChaLEAN Extreme as it's slow movements, which I feel safer doing -- with my 'skillz.'
I'd love to try something new, though, cos I've got workout ADHD something fierce.
You should try it Lily. The only real balance problem might be getting the hang of doing lunges with the bar on your shoulders and one foot placed on top of your step. You don't have to do anything you don't like or can't do, the trainers always give alternative options.
Love Body Pump, have been doing it for years. But there's a new class from the same people who created Body PUmp called GRIT... it's just 30 mins of high intensity intervals. Has anyone tried it?
My gym has just started GRIT. I'm not doing it as you have to pay for it, maybe about $250 for 12 weeks I think. I just can't really justify paying more on top of a gym membership to do an extra class. It will be popular though!
I'm curious about it do. I do heavy weights at the gym plus cardio so I feel that it won't be challenging enough for me but I could be surprised.
I think it's challenging, for example, a squat track for the length of a long song gets quite tough. Even though you have less weight on the bar, I do 22kgs, but it's really heavy after three minutes without a break!
