Hey guys, I'm a 20 yr old female that recently started eating paleo (again). Right now I'm consuming approx. 1,200 calories per day; although, I'll admit, sometimes I consume closer to 1,000. I realize this is probably too little, but I'm... (more)
I go walking everyday on my lunch break, when i eat VLC i find i don't have much energy, i lack that spring in my step, if i go up to 200g carbs then it comes back, but then the last 2 days i've been fasting, all i've eaten is one avocado... (more)
tatical energy is a survial mechanism. Your body responds because it needs to in order to get more energy (food). Carbs are not the devil, 5 day fasts are not health seeking.
I have just recently started the paleo diet by gradually migrating across. I no longer drink tea or coffee (although ultimately I will go back to coffee - but filter coffee as a treat like having cake). I have completely cut out sugar as well as... (more)
Before being fat adapted i've noticed coconut oil was the only fatty food that gave me subtle energy, now that i'm fat adapted I noticed that the fatty foods that give me the most energy are coconut oil, anchovies and avocados, on the other hand... (more)
All the paleo stuff i've been reading say aim for 8-9h of sleep. this used to be no problem for me at all. After transitioning to 90% paleo (3 weeks and counting) i find it impossible to get more than 6-7h though, i wake up naturally after 6... (more)
does anyone here eat coconut butter (not coconut oil) as a pre bed snack... have you noticed if it makes any difference to your sleep...? please elaborate (& what is your 'dose' & timing of your coconut butter). i was... (more)
Hey this might seem like old news to many but I just learned a few days ago about the fact that ruminants like deer or cows are able to digest plant matter because they ferment it in their stomach. I had an "aha!" moment and thought well... (more)
Hi, I'm going to have six moths with constant work on a project and i'm looking in too what would be the optimal diet for that lifestyle! I work out two - tree times a week, and work at the computer on average 13-16 hours a day.... I need... (more)
It seems like everyone on this site fasts before a workout, but I feel awful if I wait too long after my meal... like my head starts hurting and I feel like I need to lie down. My usual workout is running a couple miles and lifting weights.... (more)
What's everyone elses experience with removing wheat/gluten from their diet? The big trend that I hear a lot of right now is gluten. Yes, gluten can be *extremely* bad for you physically and mentally and that's fairly easily quantified.... (more)
There's a Gluten Summit going on this week for anyone that's interested in more on this topic. Have no affiliation with them but find it fascinating and free.
I have adapted Paleo for 2 weeks now and after a week I lost 7 pounds (probably just water weight). Since then I have seen it hit a brick wall; is this normal? I work at a call centre, so my job is not active at all. I tend to graze on veg, one... (more)
Sorry for the long title, but to put a connection out there I am wondering if at the end of explaining my situation there will be a chance that perhaps dieting properly will in time help me improve my chances of getting over my issues in my... (more)
This happens to me far too many times to be coincidence, I've just finished a hefty steak with fried onions & chips at 6.45pm. It's now 7.15 & I now feel like doing a workout..bodyweight routine, lifting etc...what gives?? My carb intake... (more)
I'm following a higher carb version of Paleo that includes starches like white rice and potatoes and high sugar fruits (I moderate the fructose intake). I find that starch fuels my workouts amazingly but doesn't boost my mental acuity as much.... (more)
Everyone is different. In this respect, I recommend trying a couple N=1 experiments where for a couple weeks, you limit fruit and increase your starchy vegetable consumption, and then try the opposite for a couple weeks.
If I may summarize the Paleo recommendation, we are to minimize direct sugar, including eating sweet fruits sparingly, eliminate things that directly convert to sugar (white flour, its concoctions, etc.), and eliminate polysaccharides that... (more)
The sugar crash happens when your blood sugar gets high, and your body pumps out too much insulin, thus clearing out the glucose (remember glucose above a certain level in the blood is toxic). With a paleo diet, you have a steady level of glucose... (more)
So after 8 days on strict paleo I am having a pretty bad carb crash. I wouldn't think much of it and just push through but I have exams coming up in a week and am afraid it's going to affect my studying and test taking. The carb crash started tree... (more)
Eating strict paleo doesn't mean eating low carb. Get lots of tubers and starchy veggies and you can easily get your carbs up to a level you can deal with. 1 cup sweet potato = 40 grams, remember :)
I'm trying to induce nutritional ketosis in an attempt to glean its mood-stabilizing and mental clarity benefits, and to stabilize my energy and alertness levels throughout the day. I'm currently employing the following diet: 8am: 2 tbsp MCT... (more)

Sorry, this will probably be long, but I need help. A bit of background. My 15 year old daughter has multiple disabilities. She is cognitively disabled (functions at about a 6 year old level), has low muscle tone, and has epilepsy. She is 5'7"... (more)
I think I have some grasp on what foods are Paleo, but I don't have as clear a picture about what the proportions are. I get the impression that it may be best to change what you "find" from day to day, but if you were making a percentage... (more)
When i have a soccer game coming up, what foods and how much should i eat to make sure i have enough energy for the game. (i feel like vegetables wouldn't provide enough energy and a lot of meat makes me feel slow, but im no expert)
Sweet potato, banana, dates, raisins. All good source of carbs/energy. Sweet potato should be eaten at least an hour before, others can be more of a "quick snack right before" thing (depending on your timing)
Hi! Wondering if anyone has heard of it? Says it is Paleo, I understand most people are against supplements/energy drinks but sometimes I like a pick me up so was wondering if anyone has any reviews on it? Thank you!
All of my past experiences I've had with keto I've felt tired, confused, hazy, dizzy, woozy, car-accident prone, cranky, weak, like the speaker from "One" by Metallica only not comatose...you get the idea. Is there some way to go into keto and not... (more)
