What is the healthiest thing to drink?

Answered on August 19, 2014

What do you think we should drink the most of on this diet? Plain water? A certain kind of tea? Other? And what are your favorite beverages? I'll also add that I'm talking non alcoholic since I'm not old enough to buy anyway lol

If I were trying to cut calories, I would change out milk for water. Depends on your goals and needs. It is the beverage I drink most. :)

@ Varelse - ok @nada - Happy girlfriend asked about a beverage that should be drunken most. I think it's water. Milk isn't necessary at all. It has great attributes though. whole9life.com/2013/06/the-dairy-manifesto

+1. I drink milk myself. I have no lactose or casein issues so there is no reason not to. It certainly doesn't give me acne or any other problems. I do have appetite issues, particularly in the hot weather, and so filling my stomach up with calorie-free water with no nutrients or fat is silly. No, it isn't for everyone, but it isn't bad for everyone, either.

I think milk would be more appropriate for someone who is recovering from malnutrition or something. Lots of reasons why it might not be necessary for everyone. http://whole9life.com/2013/06/the-dairy-manifesto/

What does your body need? Mostly the answer is going to be good clean chlorine/fluoride free water.

Did you just work out? Maybe coconut water if you get it without the sugar.

Do you need probiotics? Maybe water-kefir, kombucha, or beet kvass.

Do you need a caffeine boost? Maybe green or black tea, or coffee.

Want to heal your gut or help fix joints? Bone broth.

Want to be sick and possibly get adult acne? Milk from CAFO cows and make sure it's lowfat.

Want to kick up your heels and get a bit drunk? Norcal Margaritas to the rescue.

Want to destroy your health? Have tons of soda, especially diet ones with aspertame, or ones with BVO.

Want to get leaky gut and undo your paleo progress? Drink lots of beer.

Just thirsty? see the first item again.

The only thing I ever drink is tap water and that seems best for me. If I had a pure natural well with water in it I would drink that instead.

I drink coffee, kefir, and water.

And the odd glass of wine. No issues with dehydration. When in doubt, have a glass of water.

Water (add fresh fruit or cucumber for some flavour), herbal teas (I like roiboos, ginger, licorice), coconut water, bone broth. I also like unsweetened cocoa power with hot water and coconut oil (I can't drink coffee, it's kind of a close approximation). Kombucha. Kefir if you're doing dairy.

My naturopath has me drinking the following natural electrolyte drink:

1/2 squeezed lemon 1 tbsp maple syrup 1/4 tsp Celtic sea salt 1/4 tsp baking soda in 1 litre filtered water.

I add things like fresh sage, mint and orange for variety.

Lemon water got me off of my soda addiction. And it's good for digestion. I squeeze a quarter of a lemon into a glass of water.

Milk? Here in Michigan, where it is illegal to buy raw milk, and even grass fed pasteurized milk is very rare (I think there are only two farms who sell it, and you have to drive) that answer is totally wrong. It is about as healthy as supermarket pork chops. I could go with bone broth, but there never was anything wrong with water.
