Agree. I followed a diabetic diet for a period and my glucose numbers INCREASED, so I had to do my own thing and pretty much avoid everything that was suggested by the "experts." Why am I fat? Because I love food and indulged in the wrong kinds of foods. Why did I develop diabetes? Same answer. I am learning to reevaluate my entire relationship with food and do still enjoy it, but had to step outside of my SAD comfort zone and be creative!

Really? We're going to solve all of the problems that this nation has by making large people feel crappy, guilty, and like the poor state our country is in is all their fault?

There's a HUGE difference between being fat and sick, and being fat and healthy. While I wholeheartedly agree that we need to be more diligent about getting healthy and re-learning the art of eating real food, I am completely against these sensationalist "instant solution" TV shows that make it seem like suddenly, with a little application of lettuce and a treadmill, we can solve everything.

disgusted, and wholly grateful that I got rid of the damned TV set and cable

Oh, I'm sure they'll mention it. But I'm disappointed that (based on the trailers/promos I've seen) that they have this completely framed as all being caused by obesity rather than correlated with it. I don't agree with Taubes' carbs-insulin hypothesis, but I do agree with him that what makes us fat makes us sick.

And this is why I go nuts when there are reports that "just a little weight loss" improves health. No, it's far more likely that it's the healthy behaviors (like minimizing SAD foods) that improve one's health, not the weight loss.

Let's hope not. We have enough ill conceived wars already.
