What are some good paleo-oriented documentaries for the newbie? Google is coming up empty so I will consult the paleo experts on "paleo hacks".

Stabby, he makes an appearance a couple times, mostly talking about certain superfoods like goji berries and "flushing" a system. He was annoying, but bearable enough that he didn't take away from the rest of the documentary. His message was basically "real food is good for you," only he doesn't include meat as a superfood.

I agree. The Botany of Desire changed my perceptions of the plants we buy in the grocery store, and mono-cultures. The Book is leagues ahead, but the film is well done, and seeing the apples, tulips, potatoes and marijuana on the screen adds new dimensions to the information in the wonderfully written book by Michael Pollan. Read the book as well.

I love the botany of desire. Not a lot of nutritional paleo info or anything, but an interesting look at plants from Michael Pollan.

I've seen all of them and can tell you that The Beautiful Truth is good but the way it's presented is sort of cheesey. The information contained within it is fascinating though. I would also add Fresh The Movie and Dirt to the list, also Farmageddon but I haven't gotten a chance to see it. I've just seen previews and it looks great.

I'd add King Corn to WyldKard's list. Also can be streamed over Netflix.

  • Fathead
  • Food Matters (minus the parts where the raw vegan speaks)

All three can be streamed over Netflix.

He lists

Food Inc The Future of food King Corn Fat Head The Beautiful Truth: the World's Simplest Cure for Cancer Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World

I've seen all but the last 2 which I have not got around to watching yet.

To add to the list already:

"Guns Germs and Steel" and "The Botany of Desire"

The PBS documentaries follow the books you can stream on Netflix. Consider them cliffnotes to the books.

Watch any youtube video you can from Joel Salatin.

"The Future of Food" is an older one that made predictions a few years ago that have all but come to fruitian. Short version: Monsanto is teh Ebil.
