Decent, relatively open-minded Los Angeles doctors?

My wife and I just got health insurance through work, and now we must choose a primary physician. Anyone have a lead on a good doctor in the LA area?

There is already an almost band new SD meetup group for paleos! It is here: http://www.meetup.com/San-Diego-Paleo-Tribe/ Second ever meeting is on the Aug 20th near Fiesta Island. The cross fitters usually come earlier and jump around on things and climb ropes. I get there later cuz I come from work, and so I just eat yummy paleo things and yack with everyone. Last time there were about 6 or 7 others there, so I guess not everyone signs up before showing. We would love to see more paleo members join the new group! Bring on the quail eggs!

San Diego Paleos....ASSEMBLE!!!! :) Seriously, though, Eva & ScottMGS: We should have an SD Paleo Mini-Summit. Yakitori Yakyudori for skewers of chicken livers and hearts and quail eggs, perhaps?

I know that Jimmy Moore of Livin' La Vida Low Carb has compiled a directory of low-carb-friendly doctors. This could serve at least as a jumping off point, and there are a number listed for SoCal.

If anyone knows any in San Diego, it would also be MUCH appreciated, general practitioners or cardiologists, some in Kaiser would be nice too. I've been running into probs with statin mongers and those who would rather prescribe pills than help people get off pills. One of them wanted my 73 year old mother to take statins even though her cholestoral is healthy for her age and she has no risk factors and no heart disease! Grr.. -Eva

would be nice to have a list of good doctors for all major cities created be the community and the experiences of people. I don't think it would be unethical, after all there are popular doctor rating sites out there.

It occurs to me, we should probably ask permission from the docs before posting a link publically. The way we eat is still mostly counter culture. SOme docs might run into problems with their superiors if they were to make a big public show of advocating high fat diets, ditching statins, etc. Such ideas could even result in a law suit should anything go awry in even one patient. And nowadays, it is very common for internet searches to be done on anyone applying for a job. We don't want to make trouble for any doctors trying to help us. While I don't particularly advocate being sneaky, I do think it should be the choice of the doctor as to how he/she chooses to proceed with politically tricky situations. -Eva
