Just started using the paleo diet in the last couple of days and have to say i'm struggling already.
- First day felt a bit light headed in the middle of the afternoon.
- Yesterday felt pretty heavy headed in the afternoon around 2-3 (after eating meat and veg at around 1).
- Today I feel just as bad, I'm pretty sure I'm exhibiting classic low blood sugar, light headed, a bit dizzy, feeling tired and cheeks flushing.
I'm an endurance athlete for many years, orginally a rower doing lots of endurance training and now to flat water kayaking which has similar demands. I train every day and can't afford to have 2 weeks feeling tired, sleepy, weak etc while I adapt.
Does everyone else go through this? I have to say my diet was pretty shocking for an athlete before, lots of grains and sugary biscuits/chocolates.
I would like to know if it's possible to gradually implement paleo, for example, having just one meal of grain/starchy carbs and gradually cut it out?
So far I have been eating like 4 x bananas 2 hours before training to get some carbs in the system before training (and I know they aren't really part of the diet).
