the complete guide to conquering constipation

I struggled with debilitating digestive issues during high school (im in college now) and I understand what its like to not have your digestive system working to its fullest. Its more than just feeling uncomfortable being constipated, its about the loss of energy, nutrient malabsorption, intestinal putrification leading to weakened immune system, etc..

I have seen this question numerous times on this forum and unfortunately see a lot of insufficient advice that can only get a person so far. If you have any digestion issue, whether its moderate to severe constipation, this is what i have done to more or less put me on the right track to bowel movement Valhalla.

1. get a blood food allergy test at your local naturopath or integrative doctor.

dont waste your time and start a food diary, the way you "feel" during a particular part of the day can be influenced by so many different variables and you would be guessing at best when it comes to determining if that particular food is the reason for your possible symptom. In addition, digestive disturbances are a common symptom when it comes food allergies, and you would be surprised how better your tummy feels once you figure out a food allergy was a determining factor in your daily struggles.

2. Do a 3-10 day juice fast.

do a 3-10 day juice fast prior to embarking on your new food/supplement/lifestyle regimen, chances are your digestive system is fatigued and overworked, fasting is the perfect way to give your system a break and recalibrate itself. Simply switching to a paleo diet is sometimes not sufficient and your digestive system will only get 65% better as opposed to doing a juice fast than incorporating a paleo diet and getting 95% better.

3. Incorporate kefir and sauerkraut + supplemental probiotics into your diet

your probably already aware of the importance of probiotics, but you need to incorporate fermented homemade raw milk kefir, you wont believe how better your bowel movements will be once you do this. plus, kefir is absolutely delicious.

4. squatting for elimination

squatting for elimination is what grok did, once you squat, your bowels elongate and properly align.

5. parasite cleanse

90% of americans have parasites, go to a place called humaworm.com and get a very cheap parasite cleanse, parasites live in the intestines, and reek havoc on the digestive system. do some information and make an informed decision. this was actually what was causing my issues, so please dont ignore this. go get a stool test at your local naturopathic or integrative doctor.

5 day juice/liquid fast did it for me a while back and have been regular ever since! Digestive system just needed a reboot I think.

I think it's also helpful to try an elimination diet for FODMAPs.

And supplementing with magnesium and betaine HCL - doesn't work for everyone but really helps me.
