rhuematic fever

i had rheumatic fever about 8 years ago and have not been the same since. from this, i did get arthritis, a heart murmur, and triscupid regurgitation of two heart valves. i was also put on antibiotics for 2 years following for preventative measures, so think that could be contributing to the problems as well. since the rheumatic fever i have had insomnia, very poor digestion, anxiety issues, and low energy.
i have been through just about every test a conventional doctor could give, and they cannot find anything else wrong. they just try to put me on sleeping pills, anxiets meds, and miralax - i refuse! i am frustrated and desperate to get to the bottom of this and to feel well again. i have been very strict paleo for the last two years and while i have seen some improvements, i am still a long ways away from feeling back to where i was before the rhuematic fever.

...has anyone had any experience with rheumatic fever? any advice or things that have helped you recover??

thanks!!

One thing you may want to consider is the need to restore your intestines after the long antibiotic therapy. I'd say that your symbiotic bacteria levels are probably severely depressed, and it's pretty likely that some toxin-producing ones have taken up residence.

Perhaps going through the GAPS program will help you along. It won't be quick, but it may help give you an improved sense of well-being, even with the long-term complications of rheumatic fever.
