Do some foods make you "go" more and should you avoid them?

I notice that when I consume certain foods and/or drinks I have mor movements than usual. Usually think like guacamole, peppers, rice, caffeine, and a few others. It's a normal movement and I have no bloating and gas. Anyone else find that certain foods make you have an extra movement or two during th day and does it mean we should avoid those things?

The minimum should be once a day. Pooping every 2nd or 3 day is considered good for many people, but thats not healthy at all. If your digestion is good, you will go every day, probably 30 minutes after you wake up, after you drink first glass of water.

I've read that the normal rate is to go once every 1-3 days. It's what I do now too, after 5 weeks on SCD/Paleo (I used to have IBS-D, 4-5 bowel movements per day).

Personally, if foods make me "go" without gas or bloating, I'm having seconds.

My gut (haha) instinct is to say that if there is no discomfort, you aren't spending all day in the bathroom, and it isn't excessively watery, it's probably fine.

Several types of squashes give me gas and diarrhea. I avoid them, because it seems to cause problems. But I'm not sure if I'd even notice if I were simply using the bathroom an extra time or two.

You should poop a minimum of once a day. If you go a little extra later on, that could mean a variety of things. You could have eaten more fiber than usual the previous day, or that your getting plenty of magnesium. Even IFers poo once a day, although the size of their BM is no doubt reduced compared to their regular poops. Pooping extra is not a bad thing unless it's watery, which means you may need to adjust your diet for a few days until BM's are back to normal.

Pooping only every couple of days indicates constipation which can be caused by IBS, dehydration, poor mineral balance, not enough fiber, or having the wrong kinds of gut bacteria. It's not healthy to have feces sitting in your colon for that long. Chances are that by the time it comes out it will be hard as rocks due to having all of the water sucked out of it.

Just think of how often dogs and cats do a doody: Once a day. And they eat lots of meat!

The more movements you have in a single day, the better. So, no, don't avoid those foods. Coffee does that for me and shiitake and rakia.
