women, do you like cologne or mens scent (pheromones) more?

since eating paleo, i have an intuitive feeling that i naturally smell better. however i love when women say "you smell good" haha

however i feel that by wearing cologne, im potentially screwing myself at a biological level by masking my pheromone scent, which might be more attractive to women in the first place?

women, let us grok's know your preference!!!

Oh ugh to baby powder. Why is there so much stuff in that scent? Nasty. Who wants to smell like baby butt?

I am told that a the best cologne, properly applied, doesn't smell like cologne. It just makes the wearer's smell better. Kind of like the way you add salt to make food taste better, not to make it taste like salt.

Yes on the combination! Cologne should be light so that man-smell gets through when you're close and cuddly. :) Now I'm thinking about the last dude I dated... he smelled awesome... and had a great bod... GAH.

well since phermones are supposedly odourless it doesnt matter if you mask them with cologne or not.. cuz we'd still be able to pick them up either way. But stale sweat is not odourless. Make sure if you wanna go au naturel you go with fresh sweat scent :)

Yuck on the cologne. Au naturale is much preferred by me (and most of my chemically-sensitive friends!)

I can't stand scented products. It's the big reason I went no-poo. Some of these fragrances are just awful. I can't stand the smell of baby powder and that is in everything.

Most colognes smell like alcohol or acetone. My nose isn't as easily fooled by perfume.

I think what I've grown to love is the smell mixture of shaving cream, deodorant, shampoo etc (the "I just bathed" smell) mixed with the natural smell. And yes to the poster who mentioned the neck smell .. what is that? It's the best smell ever. There must be some extra pores around there.

i agree with these ladies on the chemical smell of most commercial colognes. I do think there are some delicious smelling essential oils and the few men I have known who wear them smell irresistibly good. I do prefer the natural way healthy men smell though.

Personally, cologne (and perfume) disgust me. They smell horrible and chemical, never pleasant to me. When I smell a man's cologne, I think he's trying to cover something up and he's a show off--not only does he impose himself in his physical presence (seems to be the type of guy who wears cologne) but he has to leave his scent all over wherever he's been, too. I think just as badly of women who wear heavy perfume, too.

I am allergic, so that's certainly a factor. But I just don't get why people douse themselves in petrochemical fake stuff to be more attractive. Nothing is better to me than good, clean skin. Even a little sweat smell is better than cologne or perfume, at least it's human.

Doesn't the way a woman perceives a man's pheromones relate to how compatible a genetic match they would be for mating? My husband and I have different genetic ancestors and we both find each other's natural smell appealing, but we recently had a baby and surprisingly the smell of our little girl's sweat is just...icky, really icky to me.

What I'm getting at is that it highly depends on the person, and I personally believe that if you like the way someone smells without cologne, you will probably also be ok with the way they smell with it. Especially if pheromones really are scentless, in which case you should be getting a positive or negative brain response either way.

i love all natural.

i'm not a fan of perfume or cologne on anyone. it makes me sneeze and smells hideous. my sister's bf wears a ton of cologne/aftershave (to cover up his disgusting smoke smell) and i practically wanna barf.

I like the combination of a man's natural scent and his cologne.

But since we're on the topic (and this has nothing to do with Paleo) has anyone else noticed the smell of the area between a man's neck and his shoulder, like in the morning. Smells to me like freshly baked bread - what is up with that?

How a man naturally smells is pretty important to me. I had an ex and I hated his body odour. I have another ex, and I liked it so much I'd wake up with my nose in his armpit... Yes, weird I know.

It's happened a couple of times where I'm in a line somewhere and like the smell of something and turn around to find a man behind me...

That said it's not a "smell" it's a smell... So I guess it's mainly sweat I'm liking the smell of.
