safest carb sources

been on the paleo diet for about a month and half now, strict paleo diet (meat/fish and green veggies) and i know its time to reintroduce some foods back in

had some digestive issues so i have to know which carb sources would be the best in terms of digestibility and energy (i lift weights 4-5 times a week)

white rice? brown rice? yams?

My vote is: parnsips, beets, carrots, fruit, lotus root, sweet potatoes, yams etc for carbs - If you find you actually need them.

Alot of people say white rice is a "safe starch". Id stick with tubers and roots myself, its what our anscestors would have been most likely to eat . Fruits are also carbs, and they have some good nutrition to boot.

Roots and tubers are also beautiful roasted with a little butter.

As for the most digestible, probably smaller serves of fruit (1/2 cup), or medium amounts of low fructose fruit (1-1 1/2 cups). Fructose is rate limited (hence the smaller serves etc). Starches are slow to digest and usually have resistant starch too. This makes energy and digestibility a bit of a compromise.

You may want to google the sugar content of some fruits to figure out whats ideal. If you mix something with mostly glucose (like cranberry) with something with either mostly sucrose (pineapple), or half glucose, half fructose (like most other fruit), youd be able to get the most energy versus digestibility.

Youll have to experiment a bit I am afraid.

Veggies, Veggies, Veggies. You can get all the carbs you need from veggies. After that white rice/ sweet potatoes should have few digestive issues.
