References for Paleo Lifestyle

Hi Guys

I was recently asked by a blogger/community leader to explain Paleo. I live in India and we are just getting into the SAD. This gentleman could potentially sway a bit of opinion towards at least questioning what mainstream claims to be true.

Its a matter of some idiotic pride to Indians that America is facing an obesity epidemic while they are ignoring the evidence in front of their eyes.

So my question is: could you point me to resources that talk about the affect of grains, seed oils and fats? Are there any studies that include data from India?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Beth, I have shared these links and rather than the studies above, this one seemed to have the most impact :)

Hi VB, thanks for your reply. We have a huge number of people who are vegetarians but I will dispute the claim that we have been traditionally so. Somewhere around the middle ages the hindus stopped eating meat???lots of theories for that depending on who you believe.

I have a question for you. Every time I say "there are no known traditional societies on earth that are vegetarians" somebody always objects - what about Indians? So - are they or aren't they vegetarians? PLEASE ANSWER!!!

I thought I had read something about India being the diabetes capitol of the world.

A quick google brought up this article.

This also came up, http://www.ciaprochef.com/wohf2012/pdf/Frank_Hu.pdf

I hope this helps.
