Male Thrush and Candida?

Somewhat personal question. I'm glad this is anonymous.

Recently, I discovered that there were reddish itchy lumps appearing under my foreskin, sometimes with a discharge, after no apparent change in routine. I went straight to the doctors and found out that it was a candida-type overgrowth, a.k.a Male thrush. I got some anti fungal cream which helped immediately, but it has been around ever since and flares up from time to time. I'm sexually monogamous with one girl and I could have gotten it from her, but I don't think so as we've been together for almost a year.

Coincidentally, I struggle with what's either rosacea or Keratosis Pilaris Rubra Facilies - I have KP on my thighs too, so I'm guessing it's that. I've been trying forever to sort it out with dairy eliminations, zinc supplements etc. I've been pretty loose over christmas/newyear but generally eat about 80% paleo. Also, recently, little milia dots have sprung up around my eyes, which I've never seen before.

Could this all be connected to a more general Candida overgrowth? If so, is there any advice on what I should do?

A doctor is only going to give him more anti-fungal cream, which he has already tried, and knows it works. But if it keeps coming back, there's something systemic. You know what my doc told me when I used to have recurrent yeast? "Must be something in the water..." Wow, thanks man.

My first thought was that I haven't seen a male thrush yet this year. Almost as pretty as an oriole. My second thought was See.A.Doctor.Today.

Also hopefully your doc helped you check this... but thrush can be a sign of immunocompromise which can be seen in HIV among other things...

My first thought would be that you need to try to go 100% paleo. Or at least 100% gluten free. My son has KP, and it finally started to clear after about a month gluten free (really, truly GF, no cheating!). Also, limit the fruit. Once you get the yeast cleared out you can add it back, but I would seriously not eat much for a while (maybe some berries, no apples or pineapple, etc).

Don't worry, a lot of us have dealt with the yeast issue. Check out using apple cider vinegar or grapefruit seed extract. And lots of probiotics. You can even make a cream by combining probiotic powder with enough water to form a paste (I've done this with diaper rash in babies).

You may have picked it up from your gf - if she recently had an uptick in yeast (even if not a full blown infection), it could have passed to you. I know that my husband and I have done that to each other before, passing it back and forth. I've been known to make him wear a condom just for that reason, lol.

i used to have oral thrush all the time from my asthma meds as well as from whey protein shakes. the only thing that helped was eliminating those and taking sacro b. probiotics. i'm not sure why this probiotic worked so strongly for me but i used renew life brand- immune defense.

i also got a yeast infection in my female parts last year from antibiotics. the sacro b. cleared it up in three days and i didn't need any meds for it.
