Is the "Track Your Plaque" program paleo-compatible?

I found the Heart Scan Blog recently, and I must confess that it interests me. However, I am unable to find out very much about the accompanying program without shelling out $80 or more. Now I'm not opposed to spending that money and indeed it would seem well worthwhile, but I figured that I could ask about it here and get a bit of upfront info on it.

I'm very happy an eater out of the Robb Wolf camp but I'm always interested in making certain that I'm taking the best care of my cardiovascular system that I can, especially as I approach 50.

Thanks.

Joe Blow, if you have strong desire for being bashed for any anti-statin views, then join the forum. My problem with the program's goal LDL of 60 is that is turns men into eunuchs (besides not working). Read: Tim Ferriss 4h work wk. Lowering relative amounts of testosterone (especially with a preponderance of endogenous and environmental estrogens as the case is now) is what causes and progresses atherosclerosis. Going anti-wheat isn't enough.

I was at his site as an invited guest and we 'clashed' enormously over saturated fat. Hence. The HDLs of most members s*ck and the great majority have progression on ebct. The site however is great for camaderie I met many people I admire. Yet I found paleohacks IQ a million times stronger. Another point of contention which Kruse will like is that although Dr. Davis is wonderful and sells the hormone testing, understanding the interconnectness of diet (low-mod carb w/sat fat), hormones and nutrition are 200% lacking. Add'l they/he promote ~15-17% n-6 pufa [TOXIC levels], soy, and CON-OLA oil.

Dr. K, I believe your assessment is correct. You're the only big thinker around here.

Who doesn't have atherosclerosis. It's just about given that you have it.

the big misses are nothing in depth about the risks of tryptophan and serotonin on the heart and the risk of estrogen dominance from dietary sources. This would be picked up on a metometrix GI fx which is outside the trackyourplaque plan.

Maybe it was something else with a similar name that made me think it was them. Sorry that wasn't very helpful.

I think Dr Davis is pretty much anti-wheat and other grains as well. I wouldnt go there unless I had been diagnosed with atherosclerosis.

Dr Davis program is solid. But you can do it on your own. What he is offering people is hacking their lipid profile to make global statements of CV risk. Problem is he still believes in some hypothesis that just dont wash. Do I think you'd be wasting 80 bucks? No. He has a lot to teach for a person who knows nada about heart health. He is absolutely anti grain and wheat no doubt. He also is not big on most carbs because most of his people have pre existing heart damage/ atherosclerosis and conduction abnormalities. He wants you to avoid sdLDL and the risk of oxidized LDL but he has not tied it all together yet as far as I can see. Its very heart centric and is out of context to general longevity.

Dr. Davis is working on a book that I believe is called "Wheat Belly". Maybe wait for that one and in the meantime pick up his "Track Your Plaque" Book, if you haven't already.

Before shelling out the $80 I think the most important thing would be to find out what they are basing their recommendations on. I can't remember where I ran into them before, but I vaguely recall some pro-grain rhetoric.
