Are you asking if anyone eats strictly 40/30/30?

I think aiming for arbitrary macronutrient ratios is nonsensical. I don't do it.

I find it silly now, but I was less informed when I started; my transition from SAD to Paleo was through Paleo-zone. For someone who doesn't have ED tendencies, I don't think a small time (a month or so) of Paleo-zone before going full unweighed, unmeasured paleo is probably a good thing. Even though I don't do that and find arbitrary macro nutrient ratios kind of silly, it's a good way for people to start to think about how they eat. Especially when it comes to the low-ish carb nature of zone. It helps people to get used to how much protein and fat they need and how little carbs they need. But after you get a handle on it, just go full unweighed, unmeasured paleo. It's less neurotic and much easier to sustain.

Note - my paleo-zone ratios were double fat. That is, I took the normal zone block ratios for a person my size and activity level and just doubled the blocks of fat for each meal or snack. I think standard zone is too skinny of the fat, and even double fat is kind of low, but manageable during your transition.

I don't. I am sure a normal, healthy person can do fine on most macro breakdowns but for me I find I am much happier and healthier if I keep my meals Low-Carb or High-Carb with less fat. Since I really only crave high carb after excess activity usually I feel better lower in carb than the zone.
