Calcium Polycarbophil

Even when I was pre-Paleo and ate a lot of greens, I've always needed a little Metamucil a few times per week to keep my tummy feeling well. Because Metamucil is psyllium, I've switched to Fibercon, which is calcium polycarbophil. The Fibercon web site claims it has no carbs.

Does anyone know anything about this - either experience using calcium polycarbophil, or knowledge of whether it is truly non-carb?

Thanks for any help!

Good thoughts, all. I'm convinced to ditch the polycarb.

BTW, I'm brand new to this site, and it is fantastic! Thanks to everyone who contributes!

Probably far safer to eat sweet potatoes than to consume either of the aforementioned substances.

Polycarbophil sounds extremely weird to me. Synthetic? Psyllium husk is at least a real thing.

As far as insulin response goes, neither one will have a significant effect (or so I think).

Just curious, what is your complaint with psyllium? I have supp'd with it for the same reasons in the past and never had any complaints. Fiber, while technically a carb, is usually never counted against a total carb count as most fiber is passed through the system without being introduced in to the blood stream (exception soluble fiber).

As far as Fibercon, never used it and the website gives me the feel they are just trying to push a product. From the same producers of the little blue pill.
