I took 1.2gr of ascorbic acid yesterday, that equals to 12 serving of candy like ascorbic acid chewable pills. I didn't build up the dose, just started with that much as I have done that every winter my whole life and could consume the whole bottle in a day (have weakness for sour things) Today I had excruciating diarrhoea and nothing else could cause it as I was strictly paleo for a few days prior to it. I always eat the same things, nothing new was introduced. Is that some kind of symptom? Is my digestive tract out of shape? Is this sign of same kind of damage? Should I look into other forms of Vitamin C?

I'd say you reached your vitamin c threshold, maybe you take this amount every winter, but maybe this winter you're already getting large doses of c through good food, so your actual amount of c was higher than you realized? I vitamin c load at the start of winter until I reach my threshold deliberately.

Was definitely a fluke, thanks to everyone who answered. I take 2gr or more daily now without any issues.

I read somewhere that vitamin c requirements might be much less for those on a paleo diet than on a SAD one, due to the inflammation caused by eating grains.
