Hi,PaleoHacks community.I am 16 and been suffering from terrible digestion problems for 2 years.i have a history of various diets and prolonged fasting to clear up my acne zits, which luckily disappeared after i went raw vegan 1 1/5 years ago.I was into chronic cardio 7 times a week for about a year also. Then i started suffering extreme constipation and got somehow high protein levels in urine.Been transported to hospital.Diagnosed Celiac and Crohn's and prescribed a laxative for a prolonged use.Laxatives almost destroyed my gut flora along with conventional diet of gluten-free cereal and breads.Things went hardcore and since March i developed malabsorption, started experiencing loose stools and watery diarrhea month after.Went paleo, still having problems with fats, gerd, absorption.Hack my issue please. My bowels really lack good advice to stop this cycle and start living!!!!

I come from IBS-D, SIBO, and anti-biotics, so my gut flora is as bad. I felt better within a few days after going Paleo, but I've heard cases from Cronh's patients who needed 3-6 months before they saw a better day on such a diet. One thing I do is home-made probiotic lactose-free goat yogurt. This helps the gut flora, and it's easier digestable than cow dairy. I also take a multi-probiotic once a day, like iFlora. I also try to eat very few carbs (so I don't feed the bad bacteria/yeast that are fed on sugar). I eat only 2 servings of fruit per day, and no more than 1 teaspoon of honey (other sweeteners are out of the question, since the sugars I have to eat must be "simple sugars", otherwise the bad gut flora can thrive on undigested complex carbs). Basically, that's it. Instead of having diarrhea 4-5 times a day as I used to, now I usually have it once a week. The gut requires 1-2 years to fully heal, so I'd gotta be patient.

Please note that no diet can help if you have a parasite (e.g. gardia), or mutated bacteria (e.g. C.Diff). These nasty microbes eat anything you eat (not just sugars), so no matter what food you cut down, they'd still find a way to thrive. For such cases, antibiotics is the way to go unfortunately. But don't worry, from the sound of it, your case doesn't seem to be as such. :)

NickBel,

I think you would benefit from homemade milk kefir and water kefir. Consuming kefir is a great way to improve your gut flora and improve your digestive issues.
