Diarrhea since Switching to Primal/Paleo

I had digestive problems my whole life.

But after losing 50LBS and eating mostly healthy foods and whole grains I had normal stools.

I switched to primal to be more healthy and mostly to fix emotional issues like anxiety and depression as well as my binge eating and low blood sugar spikes from carbs and sugars needing to eat every 2 hours.

Now I can IF & eat every 4 - 6 hours :)!

High carb sets me off.

I also like the idea of eating naturally.

So now im low carb high fat/protein, and while I'm full and not binging I now have terrible watery stools every night.

I thought originally it was the uncooked vegetables, so I eliminated them.

And it persists.

Im starting to think its the high fat.

I ate vegetables & lean meats & barely any cooking oils other than Canola or fats before going Primal.

Now I eat fatty cuts of meats, Olive Oil/Butter for Cooking and on my Veggies.

Where do I go from there? Or do you even think thats the root cause?

Id rather have a "fat burning body" than a sugar burning one, but Im thinking my body disagrees.

Im afraid to go back to higher carbs because of binging. Or that I wont be as full anymore.

My food diary on MFP is public:

I have about a months worth of Primal logged.

Was just using that as an example as that is one of the rare times when people consume a fat by itself. It's the fat causing the issue, not anything specifically about coconut.

Too much fat for body to process = laxative.

Where do I go from here then? I've already been eating this way for over a month, and the issue didnt start till about 2 weeks in.

Probably the fat.

Coconut oil is very well known for a laxative effect if consumed in 'large' amounts, which can be as little as a TBSP.

Last time I tried EVO (a few tbsp a day) it worsened my diarrhea.

I am also having a similar problem compared to the original poster. I am about 1 month into the paleo diet. Following it quite stricly, I would say to the 90% point.

I am feeling great overall, not having any carb flu symptoms or fogginess, I actually have been feeling more clear somehow. But I am having the same issues as above.

I am attributing it to eating healthier and my body slowly adapting, but also I believe the main culprit is going to be the 2 Tablespoons of MCT oil i take each morning.

Sudden changes to diet are often associated with digestive upset. Make changes to your diet gradually.
