Can this be gluten intolerance - already?!

Hi all -

I've been eating strict pale for over 3 weeks now and the changes in my body and mind are already amazing. I'm not here to sing the praises of this lifestyle, however - like most others posting, I'm seeking insight!

My family and I were invited over to the home of a new friend for dinner. They are from another country and served regional delicacies which were basically meat and veg (yay) but there was a bit of rice in the soup, corn in the green salad, and bread crumbs here and there. I ate - I didn't want to offend - but OMG ...in 45 minutes, I had to go home to sit doubled over in pain on the toilet, eliciting awful sounds and smells (according to my dear husband who was laughing in amazement). I also swear my head feels cloudy.

Could it be the signs of gluten intolerance ALREADY? In just 45 minutes after eating wheat and other carbs I've not touched in weeks?

Also - how do you move past this? What can I do to feel better? Is there anything I should do tomorrow>

Thank you for your help!

Kate

Thank you, Suzanne. I am barely a month in to this life so I'm figuring I'll find out what I can tolerate or not as I move along!

Thank you so much, Jen - I'm downing glasses of water over here :) I don't know what exactly I'm sensitive to but I'm not going to play around to figure it out. Back on the healthy path tomorrow!

If you are truly gluten sensitive a little dab 'l do ya. I also became very sensitive to all kinds of vegetable oils and it's in EVERYTHING...

Feel better...

I agree that it could be gluten sensitivity but it can also be other ingredients that are giving you a problem. For me, I find that even with gluten free oats, I am super sensitive to them. Whereas, I can have a slice of pizza on a white or whole wheat flour crust occasionally and not have a problem at all. It might also be that you didn't have enough animal protein (even if the meal did contain some). One other possibility is that you didn't have enough food the day before -- sometimes that trips me up as well.

You may very well be sensitive to the gluten, but it could also be other oils/ingredients, possibly MSG... The suggestions still apply. Feel better soon!

Your conclusion does not make sense to me for a couple reasons. Rice and corn do not contain gluten, and "bread crumbs here and there" sounds about the equivalent to eating a crouton. Perhaps it was one of the spices? I know curry does me in. You don't develop a gluten intolerance from 3 weeks of not eating gluten. Also, the mind is a very powerful thing.
