Yes there is ......Resveratrol and quercetin are chemical cousins which in combination prevent the growth of or facilitate the apoptosis of 3T3-L1 fat cells. We actually have biologic proof that it works. I take a boat load of it a day and it is a staple in my type two diabetics for this reason and the the fact it can halve your insulin doses in two weeks. NIH is studying this polyphenol in a large trial that should be released in 2011 or early 2012. Its a great thing and naturally found in Wines that are non pesticide treated and stressed grapes. Two good sources are Argentine Malbec's (grapes grown at 14K feet and closer to sun) and French burgundies (very difficult growing conditions). Bad news......most Cali reds have low levels due to pesticide farming. There are exceptions like Mike Neal on Howell Mountain!

My recson wine is 8oz for most men daily or 6 oz for women. The wine should be high in resveratrol.....or you can drink muscadine wines which are dirt cheap but hard to find. Highest levels of resveratrol in US wines. Cali wines are useless due to pesticide use.

depends. Not everyone needs a supplement. And the supplements for resveratrol should be tested bu consumerlabs.com for authenticity.

So in general, the more mountainous the terroire, the more Resveratrol? What about grape skin extract?

What would you say about simple supplementation? http://www.jamiesonvitamins.com/en/products/jamiesonandyou_details.aspx?GroupID=78&UPCCode=2611

I know we tend to favor real food, but if it works it works, right?
