supplements for high levels of arsenic

Hi, So I've had some undiagnosable health issues and chronic pain for a couple of years now. I'm 31. I've had so many tests and have seen so many doctors that I can't even keep track of it all. Recently I had a 24 hour urine test. My arsenic level is at 60, it should be below 25. My doctor is suggesting 30mg zinc, 600mg alpha lipoic acid, 200mcg selenium daily to detox the arsenic. She also said to avoid chicken unless it is organic, and also avoid pesticides.

Has anyone here ever dealt with heavy metal issues/ detox? What was your process and progress? I also have several amalgam fillings that I want to remove and I'm wondering how that should play into my detox. Thanks!!

My test was a 24 hour test. It only tested arsenic, lead, and mercury. I don't believe there was a specific brand name for the test. I only know the lab that gave the results. Have you felt any difference since you began your detox?

I'm waiting on a call back from my Dr.'s office to ask if we can do additional testing to know whether it's organic or inorganic. I was a bit surprised that my Dr. didn't suggest that. I also asked my Dr.'s nurse whether I should have my water tested and she said no :/ I figured it was reasonable to question my water. It's city water.

Thanks! I will look into this. I already follow Dr. Wahls via fb so this is good to hear.

Terry Wahls recommends clay ... something for your feet. Watch one of her videos. I think it is like a clay bath or something - she says it takes a lot of chemicals out. Sorry, I wish I could remember more!

What's your source of drinking water? That's likely the most significant source of exposure to arsenic.

Organoarsenics (as found in Roxarsone, the chicken feed additive) aren't as toxic as inorganic arsenic. Was your test for total arsenic or just inorganic arsenic?

My point being: what's the point of supplementing or treating it if you don't know what's causing the problem in the first place?

I have used a number of things for toxic metal removal over many years but found the most effective substance  was liquid zeolite. I had already had my mercury amalgams removed.  A recent challenge urine test has shown that I have too much lead. It's important to make sure the body is not acidic when you try to detox.

I did! I had a Metametrix Toxic Elements and Nutrients 6-8 hour urine test (is this what you used?) and my Arsenic level was way high at 107!!
This was a while ago and I have not been retested.
My doctor at the time put me on a low dose "chelation" that I did for a year. Used a Xymogen product called Chelex.
I was also on a high dose anti-oxidant protocol (in addition to a clean diet and also significantly decreasing my use of toxic products) which included R-La (GeroNova Research), Ubiquinol and a bunch of other stuff.

You might want to check out GeroNova http://www.geronova.com as they are considered by many to be the very best at lipoic acid and its their specialty.

I wonder why your doc has you on such a low dose of Zinc?
My ND has me on the max dose amount of 120mg a day for dealing with my high level of copper.
Good luck to you.
