excitement, especially for social events, meeting new people I like, has all been very very low for the past three years. I'm 23 now, and before going paleo I was having these problems, then found that going paleo helped, but am still far from where I was before my 20th birthday. I used to be a really fun person going out at night with friends, and it was so easy and fun to get with girls. I swear I was the life of the party, but I am now the downer of the party. I know there's no advice I can get I haven't heard, but I'm so frustrated at this total personality change. OH, and I can't get over how when I was 19, I would casually drink alcohol and it have a pleasant, relaxing effect. Now it makes me extremely socialably awkward, more than I already am. Its so weird because I used to be very socially strong and it was something I was good at!!

Usually when you get definitive and accurate advice you have shared your history and all relevant information to be able to judge what is inhibiting those old traits and what needs to be done to get them back, and so I can't really do anything more except suggest cocaine, or perhaps just working on testosterone levels. Have you checked them lately?

What's your diet like? Are you getting plenty of omega-3 fatty acids? How about B vitamins? There are several other nutrient deficiencies that can contribute to feelings of depression as well. Are there any recommended paleo foods that you tend to shun? If you are eating a good variety of paleo foods you should be in good shape nutritionally. That makes me think you are missing something. Also, how often do you drink alcohol? Alcohol is a depressant, and, while it may make you feel good drinking it now and then, drinking it frequently can contribute to depression.
