They are usually made of a resin material. Not good for you, but not worth having your stomach pumped, either. It's not likely to cause damage from the relatively brief period of time it's in a healthy or mostly-healthy digestive tract.

You should be fine. They aren't that big, and if you don't have relatively severe digestive issues already, you probably won't even notice passing it. If you have digestive issues that may interfere with regular passing, and you swallowed it in the last hour or so, you'd be better off making yourself throw it up. If it has been too long, and there's an issue that would affect normal passing, then you may want to consult a medical professional.

(I'm a dental professional, and hear from patients who swallow crowns, both temporary and permanent, all the time. :) When it comes to regular crowns, the cost of replacement is usually the patient's main concern! They usually aren't even able to find them "on the other side" even when they look for them!)
