I've been supplementing (still am) with magnesium, and had a Magnesium RBC test done - showed I was fine magnesium wise. I also take calcium, so I don't think it's that. It could be potassium and or the potassium / sodium balance: I'm still hacking that, but I figured I would rule out quinine.

Also, here is the official FDA release on the subject: http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/PostmarketDrugSafetyInformationforPatientsandProviders/ucm218202.htm

I have no experience with quinine - but why not just opt for magnesium to alleviate cramping? Seems to make more sense, biologically.
