Hi all,

I've been paleo for about 6 months now and been doing pretty well. I started to try to do intermittent fasting 3 weeks ago but I've been having some issues the last 2 weeks. I've been having a lot of lower abdominal cramping, and strangely acid reflux after drinking a lot of water when I get a hunger queue to keep in ketosis.... But I'm thinking I might be eating too much protein of maybe I'm allergic/sensitive to dairy and maybe not realizing it... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!

I had the same problems a month ago with IF, turns out it was the nuts I had been eating, who cramped out my stomach (at least it was not macademia nuts, I love those :).

Maybe it was also because I took a break in IF: I ate some homemade liverpate, and I had lunch the whole week with leftovers with cucumber, a tomato and boiled eggs, and a normal dinner in the evening (veggies and meat). The week after I could continue IF again.

I also kept protein based on my weight. I should max eat 30g per day, which is about 150g of meat (and I am no small guy, so this might be too high for you). When I was bigger, I ate 350-500g meat, so I clearly overdid it, converting protein into carbs, which the insulin put into body fat. I cut out dairy a long time ago, you should do a trial without it, although I didn't have these symptoms (just that it made me bloated and crave carbs).

It may be that you are eating larger than usual meals to comply with IF protocol, so you may need to reevaluate your regimen, or take digestive enzymes to help the process.

Stop being a vegan! Vegans smell like hippies with mangy beards. Be a caveman, not a hippie.
