Crossfit shoe question

I am looking at the nano 2.0. In an inov8 I wear a 10.5 and my big toe touches the end, it does not bother me as the shoe is soft and socklike. I tried the nano in a 10.5 and my big toe touches the end, and With the end being hard it is annoying and I think it will bother me when working out. But the 11 felt a bit loose in the mid foot area. So is it supposed to be tight on the toe or looser on the midfoot? How should these fit in length and width?

I normally wear a size 11 or 11.5 but got a size 12 in my crossfit "slipper". I also found that the crossfit shoes are a bit tighter, but didn't see the point in having my toes jammed into the end. I wanted my feet to be comfortable and flat and relaxed with not support so much as protection. Frankly I would rather do most crossfit works outs barefoot, but that is frowned upon at my gym.

The crossfit shoes I have are great, very comfortable, minimal sole/heel which is good for lifting, but I have no problem running in them for miles. They are a tad bit loose, which is fine if I tighten the laces but I would not change a thing.
