Crossfit and Days Off

I do cross fit Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday. Is it bad to do a weightlifting workout on Tuesday and Thursday?

So workout everyday but Sunday? What are you training for? That sounds like way too much exercise.

For the past year, I went to a crossfit gym pretty much 5 times a week. I did Monday-Friday with the weekends off. The workouts would always be an hour. They would consist of a warm up, a strength component and a metcon of some sort. Suspecting that I was taxing my body too much, I decided to cut back. For the past month or so, I've been doing the following.

Monday and Tuesday: Crossfit (warm-up, strength component, metcon). Wednesday: Rest Thursday: Strength Training only Friday: Crossfit (warm-up, strength component, metcon). Saturday and Sunday: Rest

Basically, I've reduced my workouts to 4 days a week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. 3 of those days are Crossfit days (which I'm defining as strength training followed by a metcon). The 4th day is strength only. Three days a week I don't go to the gym (though I may be active in other ways like walking, hiking etc). My progress has been really substantial over the past month. I feel better, and I perform better in the gym. It's very easy to over-do it with Crossfit. I think 3 days a week is probably the max.

Why do you want to work out on a rest day? What do you hope to gain?
