I'm falling off the Paleo Boat... :(

Well, I haven't fallen off completely. I just have the WORST cravings! It's absolutely horrible. I've been Paleo for over a year, and I didn't have these kinds of cravings when I started. I was rock solid when I took up this way of eating, and now, every time I see a loaf of bread, I'm like Pavlov's Dogs, drool running out of my mouth and my tongue lolling out, just hoping for a nibble of Wonder Bread! I didn't even like Wonder Bread before, but I don't care! I just want it... PLEASE, tell me this will pass soon, because I'm dying over here :(

I'm not to carb limiting. I eat sweet potatoes quite frequently and even white potatoes...

I better not be, or I got some splaning to do! My husband had a vasectomy a couple years ago...

Are you maybe pregnant? I only say this because there are so many questions posted on Paleohacks where in the 1st Trimester, some women crave these awful things haha.

Absolutely! I think part of my issue is that I've become lazy. My husband works 4-Midnight, so there is really no need to cook an evening meal. The kids and I just snack on left over crap or fruit or veg from the garden. Sometimes we eat dearsticks, nuts, whatever is lying around the house. I need to get motivated, I think. Good idea to go back and read through some of that literature again. Might just help me...

Your comment on grilled cheese with tomato gave me an idea...I bet slices of tomato topped with cheese and baked or placed under the broiler until the cheese melts would be delicious.

LOL, yess. My intense carb cravings AND binge-eating ceased when I added in more carbs overall.

Personally, I find that I only get bad cravings for such things when I'm not eating enough food. If I force myself to eat something "on the menu," as it were, the craving usually isn't an issue anymore.

However, when the cravings get especially persistent--as they occasionally do--I usually turn to indulgences that are just as appealing as bread, but more benign (e.g., nachos or fries, or even just a sh**ton of ribs). And once in a while, I find that it's actually helpful to just indulge the craving, because when I do, I immediately remember why I went paleo in the first place. Adding some strong negative associations to those old friends (e.g., massively painful stomach cramping, bloating, other unpleasantness) can be pretty helpful.

If it were me, I would try to normalize my blood sugar. I lose cravings when I go really low carb. I know a lot of people would probably disagree.

Do any other foods sound good to you?: if blueberries, you might be deficient in manganese, if brazil nuts, maybe selenium. It could also be b vitamins, because breads are usually supplemented with b vitamins. So if upping your starches doesn't do it for you, I'd look into micronutrient deficiencies.

I'm with you. I've been Paleo for almost a year. The past 4 months have been hard, mostly because I'm pregnant and the 1st trimester I felt so sick that I let myself eat whatever. Having passed that nauseous stage now, I'm about 70-80% back to Paleo, the problem is I just don't have the willpower to say NO to a slice of toast at home, or a dinner bun at a restaurant, because they don't leave me with immediate negative side-effects (unlike dairy, which I will probably avoid for life now).

I was just thinking today that maybe I need to go back and read Rob Wolff or Mark Sisson again, just to remind myself of all the bad things about grains.... Or maybe I need to stick some 'reminders' on the fridge like... quick Paleo food facts, so I don't reach out for that bread...

Have you looked up Julian's bakery? They offer friendly paleo bread ( I realize some of you say there is no such thing) but its still much healthier than wonder bread ha
