Heavy cream craving turned into a granola binge!

I started eating paleo and have been really good about it without any issues. My cheats are blackstrap molasses and small amounts local raw honey (for allergies) on occasion and dubliner cheese. I feel like I haven't had any issues with craving any other non-paleo foods. There is actually a possibility I might be pregnant as hubby and I are currently TTC. I had bought some heavy cream to put in my tea recently and found myself drinking it often. I just read more on it and found that that isn't necessarily a bad thing, but today I didn't have any more in the fridge and couldn't stop thinking about it! I finally ended up bingeing on leftover granola from pre paleo days and mostly digging out the raisins. Now I feel terrible and still want more cream. Is there any rhyme or reason to this craving?? I've never had any issues with cravings whatsoever thus far and I feel like it's because I denied myself the cream, I was looking for something else. I really, really crave thick fatty cream to sip on - about a cup a day. I feel like cravings in general mean that something isn't quite right. Should I be worried or should I keep the cream in my diet and drink it as often as I crave it. I don't chug it or anything. A few sips are really satisfying.

Yeah definitely good look on getting preggo! I never had the luxury of knowing what it was like to try for one. My babies always were a pleasant surprise. LOL

Thank you! I do actually take a pre-natal. I figure it's as good a multivitamin as any and I might as well have all of the necessities in my system for when we do conceive.

My theory is that our cravings are trying to tell us something so I just go with it. The only cravings type that I don't advocate giving in to is a craving for sweets. That's a sign that you are insulin resistant and is best handled by cutting out the carbs. It doesn't sound like this is your issue though because you only want the cream. I'd say have your cream, but find something better to put it on if you want something with it. Granola is very sugary.

Have you had your pregnancy test yet? Good luck!

Make sure you're getting enough dietary fat each day. Heavy cream is delicious (and if you pour some in a blender you can turn it into whipped cream--but you didn't hear that from me! lol), but try eating fattier cuts of beef, eggs & crisped poultry skin.

Until you give up the sweets all together for a while you may have these cravings. I had to go cold turkey.

I find it hard to stop eating granola once I start, I don't really think it has to do with the cream.

I take a multi-vitamin (good quality with a large range on vits / mins / anti-oxidants) when I get cravings. There may be some nutrient missing. IF you are pregnant though - take a pregnancy vitamin.
