I know it's cortisol and adrenal function, but what in particular do I do?

Constant baggy eyes that feel strained, sleepiness all day until I'm about to go to bed, increased anxiety from alcohol, and relaxed feeling from coffee...anyway, what can be done for these problems besides getting adequate sleep, following high fat perfect paleo, and exercise. I'm looking for a specific diet plan of certain foods that someone with same problems has found. I know this will be cured via diet, it's just a matter of time.

Probably sex, leading a more fun lifestyle, only worrying when it's really necessary, and continued focus on adjusting diet is what I'll be focusing on. The first one is not so easily bought at a store, at least anything of quality.

I think I'm in the same boat, carbs/no carbs/different supplements made no difference. Quality sleep is the key in my opinion.

charlie, carb refeed basically means eating more carbs one day a week. So one day (i do a sat because I usually eat out more on saturdays anyways) eat less protein and fat and more carbs. I know that eating carbs, particularly for someone on strict paleo, can make you feel guilty, but paleo is not atkins. Sweet potatoes, potatoes, fruit are still paleo. I would also suggest eating more carbs around (before/after) your workouts, and leaving the high fat meals for days and times when you dont work out

I'd agree that LC or VLC for extended periods like 6 months or something is no good. Carb refeeds are an excellent way of giving you some emotional/mood/outlook health quickly. I actually have upped my carbs across the board but even while i was VLC I'd do a refeed at least once/week, sometimes twice.

The IF bit is clutch. A good number of people are suggesting protein cycling is a good deal less harmful than IFing with most the safe benefits.

Sorry, for me in that situation, it wasn't really diet so much as getting sleep. Physically making the cut off to finish things up and get to bed. It was rough because I had too much fun on the computer at night. Burning both ends of the candle can't be resolved by diet.

I had the same problem: I exercised quite a bit, didn't eat enough carbs, didn't sleep enough and if I did it was inconsistent, used coffee to get through the day. Had dark circles under my eyes and lacked energy.

Fixed it by doing a carb refeed once a week. This is similar to Tim Ferriss' suggestions. A carb refeed once a week increases cAMP and GMP to help convert T4 thyroid hormone to T3. Im not just talking about a higher % of macros from carbs, but actually eating significant amount of carbs once a week. I use it as sortof a cheat day but if u want to be strict paleo, get it from sweet potatoes/fruit.

I also stopped doing IF. I know that IF has its benefits but I believe that it only works if everything else is in check. Being that I do more cardio in my training, it just didn't work for me. I started eating every few hours and noticed good results.

Yeah,I read an article named "The case for high carb Paleo" about a guy who, advised by Dr.Garrett Smith, healed his adrenals and cortisol issues pretty quick this way.
