Is there anything that can be done years later to mitigate the effects of multiple minor concussions?

My reply isn't really diet related but I highly recommend frankencense essential oil. It contains sesquiterpenes that cross the blood-brain barrier and have been shown in studies to increase oxygen in the brain by as much as 28 %. It is also an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, immune boosting. Shows promise in patients with cognitive disorders, Parkinson's, stroke damage and brain injuries. It's expensive but worth it's weight in gold, IMO. Make sure it's high quality. If you want a source let me know.

Since I treat concussions I have a special regime for the diet/lifestyle. I call it my concussed dozen:

  1. Very high dose omega three Rx grade
  2. Phosphotidylserine and choline laden foods
  3. Copious amounts of high grade coconut oil
  4. Zero carb dieting until neuropsych battery and exercise testing are normal
  5. Tremendous use of cruciferous veggies covered in good fats and turmeric
  6. Specific supplement regime for neuronal autophagic recovery (very detailed)
  7. Hormone optimization especially for cortisol, melatonin, progesterone and oxytocin.
  8. Two meals a day
  9. Meals timed specifically to sleep wake cycle
  10. Limitation of specific artificial lights
  11. Total limitation of all dairy except eggs and aggressive treatment of leaky gut.
  12. ZERO EXERCISE OF ANY KIND UNTIL I CLEAR IT

Ketosis helps with brain trauma, so I would stay ketogenic at least until you are healed.

I just recovered from a concussion and I eat paleo. I took more vitamin k, more fish oil, and made sure I was eating lots of good fat. My cognitive function returned in 2 weeks.

I would recommend eating at your very best, with lots of bone broth...the minerals will be so nourishing for your recovery...feel better soon!
