Apple Cider Vinegar Uses?

Answered on August 19, 2014

I've read that it's good for colds, stomach aches, flu, etc...

What are some other (even creative) uses for ACV?

About one or two Tbs per glass of water...I don't measure, just pour a bit in. I've just gotten a feel for what is effective without being caustic.

Ditto on the face toner. I dilute it with water and add drops of lavender and tea tree essential oils. Works better than any toner I have bought to cleanse and prevent breakouts! Does sting my eyes until it dries...But since it's homemade, the strength can be adjusted to personal preference.

Ben61829- I love that cocktail, hot water with lemon, raw ACV, and raw honey. cures just about everything! If it's a cold morning add in some cayenne and it will warm your body up nicely.

Drinking 2 TBSP in 8oz of water cleared up my stopped up nose fairly quickly.

Anytime I eat at home I'll have about two teaspoons straight down the throat while we are cooking, before eating. Just something I started doing years ago after a lifetime of watching my grandfather drink a cocktail of honey, ACV, squeeze of lemon in water. I just prefer it down quick style.

http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/acvinegar.html

It's used for allergies, acid reflux, gout, arthritis, headaches, yeast infections, psoriasis, depression, sinus infections, acne, high cholesterol, flu, chronic fatigue, candida, sore throats, contact dermatitis, IBS etc.

I suspect that it positively influences dysbiosis and SIBO.

  • Conditioner, dilute in a bit of water
  • Face toner, dab some on your face after a shower to prevent acne
  • salad dressing
  • Stomach a bit whoosy? Take a tablespoon in water.
  • Eat too much fat and feel sick? (see above comment) ... yes ... I've done this before ... the bone marrow just tasted so good ....

Breaking down kidney stones. I was having sudden bouts of "drop to the floor" pains around my flank/kidney area after I started drinking milk after a long break from it. I've had these pains before and they subsided after I cut out all milk and upped my water intake.

This time, I drank a couple tablespoons of cider diluted in water every couple hours. I could actually feel tinee tiny bits of something passing along my urinary tract when it came time to pee. The whole thing without pain. I'm positive the cider broke down whatever little and growing deposits I had.

It "fixes" what ails you and it makes a great placebo, too!

It's a great moisturizer on dry, cracked hands. Just put some on a cotton ball, rub over the affected area, let dry.

Saw this "recipe" for a drink on a blog today: apple cider vinegar, water, sliced ginger. Sounds kinda good, might try it.

(said blog post: http://ashleyrosehelvey.blogspot.com/2011/11/braggs-apple-cider-vinegar-distilled.html)

ACV has be very effective for me in treating acid reflux and improving digestion. This was especially helpful at two points in my life:

  1. Gut healing when I first went gluten-free
  2. Pregnancy!

I still often drink it in the mornings because it feels cleansing/energizing. I also take it now and then to support my digestion. (When I drink a large amount of plain water, it can induce reflux in me. If I put a bit of ACV in the water, I can drink as much as I like without problem...And it is more thirst quenching, so I drink less.)

A book came out in the 60s (The Apple Cider Vinegar Cure?) that said it was good for weight loss. (I remember my mother taking it).

Why do I keep coming back here? Who's dim enough to be drinking ACV straight?

It's acid people, ACID. It'll ruin your teeth and most likely burn the shit out of your oesophagus - permanently. Look it up folks. You KNOW this surely? I mean, honestly, it's simple common sense. Use ACV by all means but either dilute it or consume it with food to minimise the contact.

We all know how bad juice is for our teeth, so it follows that something far more acidic is going to need a bit of thought before we guzzle it.

I used too much making bone broth the other day. Tasted like candy of sorts. Couldn't eat it like a meal, but little snacklets were nice. I suppose I just could have diluted it if I wanted. Dint want to.
