I live in Australia, and I have googled and looked in previous posts and havent been able to find my answer, so here i am hoping you can help.
I drink about 3 cups of coffee per day with about 30ml of either TINNED coconut milk or cream depending on which brand i buy...the one that i have in front of me atm has this on the nutritional label :
Ingredients: Water, Coconut Cream(23%), Stabiliser:(466)
Per 100ml: 87cal, .7 protein, 8.7 fat, 1.7 carb(0.2sugar), 12mg sodium.
The difference between the other creams or milk are the percentage of cocconut in the ingredients, no guar gum, no added sugars etc!
Does anyone see a problem with this? Are there any other aussies that have a preferable brand they use? Is stabiliser 466 a problem???
How many of you drink coffee with added tinned coconut cream/milk?

Just a note on stabiliser 466 - Carboxymethyl cellulose - Carboxymethyl cellulose is prepared from cellulose, the main polysaccharide and constituent of wood and all plant structures. Commercially prepared from wood and chemically modified. No known adverse effects but it could be produced from genetically engineered cotton plants. Known to cause cancer when ingested by test animals. Many different uses, mainly as thickening agent, but also as filler, dietary fibre, anti clumping agent and emulsifier. Similar as cellulose, but very soluble in water. Found in many different products. Carboxymethyl cellulose is very soluble, and can be fermented in the large intestine. Large concentrations can cause intestinal problems, such as bloating, constipation and diarrhoea. It also lowers slightly the blood cholesterol level.

I use Ayams. It's just coconut and water. Available at all Woolies and Coles in the Asian Foods section. Anything with numbers in it is bad!!!

I used to drink the macro brand from woolies, but have recently switched to 'Banaban' from Nature Pacific. It is only new on the market and costs $3.75 per can. No preservatives, water or additives with only 100% coconut milk or cream. I too have coconut milk or cream in my coffee! Great site worth having a look at. www.naturepacific.com

I'm live in Australia too (Sydney) and the Woolworths near me have just started stocking a Macro brand of coconut milk, that had far fewer ingredients than the other brands. Have noticed the brands do vary a lot in terms of additives.
Interested to hear what other Aussies suggest!
