how much coffee do you drink?

Answered on August 19, 2014

coffee seems to be in with a lot of people in the paleo crowd and i'm curious how much you coffee drinkers drink per day. i love coffee and pretty much everyday have a huge mug of black coffee in the morning and once in a blue moon i'll have a tiny amount in the afternoon if it's around. i find that after the first mug any amount more than a about a half a cup gives me the jitters. what's your coffee intake like? what's the most you've ever drank in a day?

According to Dave Asprey, decaf coffee is loaded with Toxins even more so than most conventional coffee. The caffeine kills some of the molds and mycotoxins in regular coffee beans, but decaf coffee lacks that natural defense. I wouldn't mess with that stuff.

It's really good coffee. I haven't been a coffee drinker for very long, and this was a way to wean myself off of 5 hour energy every single day. I didn't really know how bad cheap instant coffee could be, because I've never been an indiscriminate coffee drinker, so I ordered coffee on a United Airlines flight a few weeks ago. I seriously felt sick. It was awful. I didn't even drink the whole cup. It was honestly poison. So yea, I'm a huge fan of upgraded coffee.

I think not being able to get water hot enough is an elevation thing, not an America thing. Try making a hot cup of tea on K2 (and I mean the mountain, not the vitamin).

I feel sick after I drink decaf. Has anyone else experienced this? I looked into it, but couldn't figure out if it was the chemical process that's used or if maybe I just got a bad batch or something.

I'm English. What is this "coffee drink" of which you speak?

I drink tea. I pretty sure that English cavemen drunk tea too.

Off to Michigan on Monday for another week of tea-famine: your tea sucks, your water sucks, you can't get it hot enough, your milk sucks (although luckily I'm Whole 30ing at the moment, so the milk thing won't matter too much).

None. I hate coffee with all my guts. Hate the smell, the taste, the color - practically everything.

The only thing I really like about coffee is cream and sugar. Frozen. It is called "ice cream".

I've never experienced any reaction to coffee, not even after drinking two venti-size amounts at Starbucks. In fact, coffee at night usually puts me to sleep (any hot drink does). So I think this is a case of listening to your body--if you react strongly to caffeine, it's probably not a good idea to drink too much of it. I still try to limit mine just in case--so I stick to one small mug on weekdays, and none on weekends.

I drink coffee because I like the taste and it allows me to have some cream to help me feel full instead of snacking on something. No sugar. I usually take my coffee around noon so that I can have a late lunch at 3 or 4 (and avoid the crowd in the cafeteria). Overall, coffee has curbed my snacking habit quite well, although I'll sometimes eat some chopped coconut, dark chocolate, or some nuts along with my coffee.

28 oz of coffee with 3 Tbs MCT oil (or coconut oil) and 3 Tbs of unsalted grass fed butter. I use about 1 Tbs of freshly ground coffee in 28 oz of water in a French press.

Trick question because there are "degrees" of coffee?

I have 40 ounces every morning, but it's mild, watery coffee from Wawa (local convenience store). If I have a cup of stronger coffee, eg from Starbucks, a regular serving of maybe 12-16 ounces can put me on tilt, so I am assuming there is less caffeine in the Wawa coffee.

Always black.

I drink 4-6 cups per day, usually half decaf. (30-50 ounces)

I use stevia and either cream, half-n-half or butter.

That is my breakfast most days. I don't usually have coffee after 2-3pm.

I drink a good amount of coffee, couple of cups in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon. I'll have it pre or post workout. For the next month I'm going to limit my intake and have none in the evenings. I used to love reading a book with a cup around 9-10 pm but that just seems a bit late. Overall it doesn't seem to make a big difference I just like the taste.
