Coffee and motility

I do fairy sustained, intense activity in the early evenings two days a week (soccer), and I often have a cup or two of coffee in the hours prior. I only started drinking coffee a month or so ago, and have noticed since that I need to I need to pass a movement soon after I drink it. I'm not 'irregular' outside of this, and indeed it is 'regular' after drinking coffee. It's been speculated that coffee has pharmacological effects... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10499460.

I'm wondering if anyone has had similar (or different!) experiences and or know what this sort of thing may mean/reflect. Eg - is it immune response where my body wants to get rid of something (stool is well formed though...).Could it relate to it being ingested when I'm fasted? Anything else? (Perhaps mycotoxins from mould? Sometimes the coffee is made in the morning and sits out throughout the day...)

Thoughts?

Cheers

Thanks for your response. It doesn't seem to be a problem, but would be interesting to why...

Anecdotally, coffee has a laxative effect on me. I do think that it has less and less pronounced the longer I've been drinking coffee. That said, a strong espresso definitely has an effect on my bowels still.

I think this is very individual and the conclusion will more or less be 'YMMV'.
