Clogged ears after drinking coffee??

Answered on January 10, 2018

I've been experiencing a phenomenon that I can't quite figure out... my left ear always gets clogged after I drink coffee in the morning. I tried googling it but didn't really find much.

Anyone got any thoughts about this? What could be the reason?

Try touching you right knee to your left ear very slowly, do about 8 reps all in all, it should clear up the clog.

I've gotten headaches which feel like sinus pressure - even from decaf. I wonder if the phenomena are related.

Yes!  I think is jaw tension!....after 4-5 years of struggling with this (dizziness, clogged, ringing).  And I’ve tried many, many, things (docs, meds, procedures, avoidance, everything!)

I think I fianlly found something to help!  I tried putting a TENS stimulator on the side with issues...it’s been amazing!  They are cheap to buy...

I get it too. I only drink one cup of coffee per day, with cocument oil and ghee in it instead of milk. I absolutely love it, and am shattered that I may have to give it up. My mum has chronic menieres disease, and I am concerned that this may end up my fate also!

This has only been happening to me since being on the paleo diet, which I commenced at the end of February, so two months now!

This happens to me as well. My own determination is that jaw tension resulting from the caffeine is causing some sort of eustachian tube dysfunction. Do you have a lot of jaw tension?

Glad I am not the only weirdo out there. More than 3 shot of espresso daily plugs my ears up.

Not the case with alcohol though. But it does affect my sinuses :-(

Yep, I have gotten vertigo from drinking coffee. It can trigger Meniere's disease, an inner ear disorder which can plug your ears. Not fun!

LOL - this happens to me, too, but after two cups. I thought I was just weird. ;-)

I always assumed it was a side effect of slight dehydration -- the sinus system is intricate, and changes to the viscosity of your mucous may effect you like this.

That's just my guess.

i have the same result from drinking alcohol. went to the allergist, not allergic to Potatoes (potato vodka my favorite). So i figure it's the yeast. Dr said yeast is everywhere, including your coffee, you if allergic this could be the cause.
