How to make coconut oil into a portable lip balm/hair product

Answered on August 19, 2014

I like using coconut oil on my lips and hair. What can I add to coconut oil so it doesn't melt in the summer, or in my car? I want to be able to carry it with me to work and for travel. I am guessing the additive needs to be something with a higher melting temperature.

Thanks.

You can always use less wax & add more later, if needed. I use a short canning jar to heat/mix/store mine in.

Hmmm is beeswax okay for hair at that ratio? Isn't it too stiff? I have fine curly hair.

I use straight up cocoa butter for my lips. It doesn't melt in the summer.

I use beeswax in a 1:1 ratio for lip balm & hair pomade.

Here are some various homemade hair treatments. You could easily store the treatments in a plastic container for later use.
