It's very hard - I have to chizzel it off and it comes in a tight glass container. How do you all do it?

I believe my brand says the same but it sat on my counter for the past month until I finished it last night and I noticed no ill effects.

Good idea. I thought about doing it with fresh herbs as well. The tough part is finding a good ice cube tray. Container Store seems to have the best one, which medium sized cubes, a cover, and BPA-free plastic.

I think it says to refrigerate and so I store it there. But you may be right - maybe I should try storing it outside and then it will be easier.

yes, the coconut butter (I have it in a glass jar as well) is hella hard to get out unless you warm it up. I just put a pan of water on the stove, simmer and put the jar in the pot....let it sit for a bit and then scoop away :)

I liquify it and pour it in to an ice cube try that I keep in the fridge. It's then easy to pop out perfect portions.

I keep my jar of coconut oil on a shelf above my stove. In the evening, the heat from cooking dinner warms it enough to make it more easily scoopable. If I need it in the morning, I just pour some hot water into a bowl and put the jar in the bowl till the edges soften enough to use.

Love the ice cube tray idea, though. That's how I store coconut butter in controllable portions.

I put it in the microwave for 15 or 20 seconds, then stir.

I'm not sure if you are talking about coconut oil or cocoa butter. If you are talking about coconut oil, I just scoop it out with a spoon, but I have a pretty large jar of it. If you are having that much trouble you can always put the jar in warm water (just hot from the tap is fine) to let it melt a bit and then you can pour some out in liquid form. It melts at 76F, so you don't need a lot of heat to get it softened up.

The same thing should work for cocoa butter, but it melts at a higher temp--around 100F--so you would need hotter water. However, I would think hot water from the tap would still work fine to get it softened enough to make it easier to scoop out of the jar.
