Gnawing hunger after eating Creamed Coconut or Nuts?

All the time I consume either creamed coconut or nuts I get a an empty feeling in my stomach like an hour after. I don't feel week, my energy levels are quite good, but my stomach just feels empty. What would cause this?

That's what I've always heard also. I know soluble fiber "gels" in the gut and slows digestion. But I think insoluble fiber just passes through and causes faster gut passage. Interesting, but I don't quite understand why fiber would cause hunger, isn't it suppose to be satiating?

Yes, but why would higher glycemic foods like bananas and sweet potatoes compared to lower glycemic ones (coconut and almonds), not give me that gnawing hunger feeling. That is what I am trying to figure out. The human body is so confusing.

On the contrary, the higher the glycemic index, the higher the insulin spike. Insulin might suppress hunger, but it metabolizes the sugar in your bloodstream and a sugar-low makes you hungry

So it would seem that the higher the glycemic index the less hunger?? Stephan G. states that insulin suppresses hunger, so the fact that insulin isn't raised when eating nuts or coconut that much could explain the hunger??

I think it is about the different glycemic loads and index, in different foods

But it doesn't happen after I eat a pound of sweet potatoes or a couple bananas...

They are somewhat high in carbs also

Interesting. I have had it with whey protein too, but that is obvious because it raises insulin, but would something like nuts and coconut also raise insulin despite being mostly fat by calories?

Could it be due to the fiber content? Nuts and creamed coconut are both faily high in insoluble fiber. I don't have a theory as to why this would make you feel hungry. Just an observation.

Exactly the same thing happens to me when i have a whey protein shake, i think it might be that this sort of foods trigger an insulin spike on our blood level, which creates this feeling of hunger
