Coconut oil worked wonders but now lost effect. Why?

So when I first went on coconut oil/butter/milk, my hypothyroid symptoms faded - body temperature went up by a degree, lost around 5 pounds in 2 weeks, had so much energy, skin looked amazing. Recently, been gaining back (could be water weight because of period) but not producing as much body heat and been bloating in the stomach area. What happened?

Extra virgin is unrefined. I like refined only.

I used Nutiva extra virgin coconut oil, Artisana coconut butter and started off with BPA-free coconut milk

Cannot answer your question. Just a comment - I ABSOLUTELY HATE coconut oil. Hate it with passion. The taste, the scent, the consistency - everything.

It appears that some of the effects of coconut oil, like increased an metabolic rate, seem to go away:

My own totally speculative theory is that your body eventually learns how to handle the fairly novel medium chain fatty acids in CO and doesn't need to do things like increase thermogenesis and metabolic rate to dispose of them because they can be easily turned into storable, longer chain triglcyerides.

As with anything there is no magic bullet, potion, pill, exercise, or oil. Coconut oil is just one strategy of many eating, not eating, exercise, and mental approaches to employ. Progression and Strategic Variation in exercise and eating is the key. Selecting the right tools in your toolbox that work for you at any given time in your quest for optimal frame and leanness takes study, time, trial/error, and yes, patience.
