Where do you store your coconut oil?

Hi PHers,

So it's stinking hot here in Aus (37 today in Adelaide, to be precise) and my coconut oil is liquid. I know that the heat shouldn't affect it but is it better to store it in the fridge or cupboard in the warmer months?

depends on whether you want it liquid or solid (soft will be trickier when your only options are 37C or the fridge).

It's my on-counter apartment temperature gauge - all melty? Damn hot. Kinda melty? Not so much. Solid? Oy, fall has arrived. Super stable, you're fine with it out but I would just keep out of direct sunlight. Just my preference.

It's fine to keep it out--even when it is hot outside. It is a tropical oil, after all.

on the bottom shelf of my cupboard. I don't mind liquid form, easy to dispense and use in salads!

I keep mine on the kitchen counter. Liquid or solid is fine, it doesn't go bad. Really it is just a matter of how you want to eat it. You like the liquid, or do you like the mouth feel of the solid melting in your mouth?

Good to know!!
I am in Melbourne (where it got to 33 degrees today) and I keep a little snack pottle of coconut oil in my car for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up...but on days like today it is liquid by 11am

coconut oil is very stable. if you're letting it sit out in the heat long enough to be a problem, you're not eating it fast enough. :)
