Trans fats in coconut oil?

I just bought some coconut oil at the local health food store. I made a stir fry with it last night. My wife gets a stomach ache from certain oils and she had one after she ate my stir fry. I looked this morning at the label on the coconut oil and its says it contains 0.5 grams trans fats. Does this mean its hydrogenated?

I didn't even think coconut oil would be hydrogenated so I didn't bother to look at the label. I was also buying it from a health food store.

It doesn't say anything about hydrogenation on the label, just bleached.

its most likely RBD oil (refined. bleached and deodorized), these are very low quality usually made from "kopra" . its health benefits are minimal at best. this link has more info http://www.healthcareanswercenter.com/products/1/NutriMost_Coconut_Oil_Literature.pdf

You want Virgin organic coconut oil only. Huge difference.

Trans fats can occur naturally. Butter contains trans fats and isn't hydrogenated. Don't buy bleached anything. Yuck!

There's a much better quality coconut oil here, at Green Pastures: http://www.greenpasture.org/public/Products/CoconutOil/index.cfm

If your wife is getting stomach aches after eating oils, she may want to look into gallbladder issues. One supplement that helped me years ago when I was dealing with this was Ox Bile - basically a supplement to help your body digest fats.

Health food stores are selling out all the time. Prime example is whole foods who now sell Gmo garbage. Gmo is getting their grubby hands into everything. Even most seeds are Gmo. Or ge. Planting your own garden to eat healthy is almost next to impossible.
