Hack my reaction to coconut oil

I got some organic virgin coconut oil yesterday and took about 2 tbsp last night. Since then, I haven't felt hungry at all. Food sounds absolutely repulsive. I know that some people experience nausea after having coconut oil, but it's not that.

Since I'm trying to lose about 20 pounds, it sounds great. However, I think I have low blood sugar despite lack of hunger. I've had brain fog and no energy all day.

Should I try eating it with other foods? I'm thinking maybe this will mitigate some of this appetite suppression.

Yes, a couple tbsp of MCT oil will definitely start you engines in the morning.

Sorry Jim, not really enough information here. Are you dieting now/eating low carb for a while? It's sounding like you're eating "normally", take a spoon of coconut oil and don't eat and suddenly brain fog. If that's the case, yeah, your not eating (although overnight doesn't seem that long to me) and your body is still craving/working off carbohydrates.

If you're pushing toward the lower carb Paleo diet, you're going to have that until your body switches over to using fats. Look up low-carb flu on the site for misc posts on it.

If you really want to get the benefits of it, you can try refined coconut oil or even MCT oil.

In my opinion 2 TBSPS is a lot of coconut oil to take initially. I started with a teaspoon and worked up to TBSP and even then would divide 2 tablespoons into morning and night.

A fluke? Do it again and see what the result is. It's not a good idea to base health decisions off of random flukes.

Cholecystekinin for the win! Perhaps your body just wasn't used to straight up fat and you had a large release of CKK, I've had similar responses to fat, but usually it's a much larger dose than 20g or so.
