High LDL but good overall ratio...Am I gonna die?

Recent blood lipid panel results are as follows: Cholesterol: 212 HDL: 62 Triglyceride: 41 Cholesterol/HDL: 3.4 LDL: 142

My LDL appears to be high, and my provider is blaming the amount of "animal protein" I ingest from the Paleo diet, and that I should cut back on eggs, red meat, etc. I'm confused as to which is more important, LDL or the ratio of Chol/HDL? It seems like everyone has a different opinion on what is right.

Unfortunately, I am at the mercy of the military healthcare system for the time being. I will look into the Paleo network for sure though, thanks!

Yes. You are going to die. This is a shitty way to find out. Somebody really should've told you by now. Life is terminal.

Calculated LDL's when triglycerides are less than 100mg/dl or greater than 400mg/dl are not accurate. Using the Iranian formula your calculated LDL is probably closer to 105mg/dl. In any case, your total cholesterol and HDL is fine. You have nothing to worry about, regardless of what Kashkillz says.

By your provider I am guessing you mean your health care provider. I would consider getting a new one, you can check the Paleo Physicians Network to find one in your area (I am not one of the lucky ones that have one in my area but perhaps you will fare better).

Good luck, the problem with being on the cusp of a revolution is that we are constantly being seen as uninformed. That will change with time.

I would be most worried about your HDL triglyercide ratio, and yours is excellent.

But if you have a family history of heart disease, or any other risk factors, it might still be worth working on ways to lower your LDL. Highly recommend Paul Jaminet's articles on the subject at Perfect Health Diet, and also the Chris Masterjohn blog The Daily Lipid. Chris Masterjohn has also done some really helpful introductory podcasts, which are easy to find via Google. But if my reading of him is correct, he would not be much concerned about numbers like yours.
