So, after going Paleo for most of last year, here is the result of some bloodwork:

2013 Blood Panel Results:

  • Total cholesterol 265 mg/dL
  • Triglycerides 102 mg/dL
  • HDL cholesterol 67 mg/dL
  • VLDL cholesterol 20 mg/dL
  • LDL cholesterol 178 mg/dL
  • C-Reactive Protein 3.00 mg/L

For reference, here are numbers prior to Paleo, although still close to paleo diet:

2012 Blood Panel Results:

  • Total cholesterol 223 mg/dL
  • Triglycerides 92 mg/dL
  • HDL cholesterol 70 mg/dL
  • VLDL cholesterol 18 mg/dL
  • LDL cholesterol 135 mg/dL

I did not have the CRP done in 2012. To be honest, seeing such a high LDL is scary, even with fairly decent VLDL, Trigs, and HDL. I would love some input here. Thank you!

EDIT: Here is a link to the VAP Test results. I cannot yet attach images and there is just too much information to type out: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/832/screenshot20130116at101.png

Thank you for your response! I actually ordered these tests on my own. Would you mind explaining a VAP panel? Thank you again.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but your LDL is not real. Its an estimate based upon the Friedewald formula. Also you VLDL is just your Trigs/5 not a real measurement.

I would take the results, crumble them up into a paper ball, throw them at your doctor and ask for a VAP panel.
