any Dr in Bay Area that don't believe in Lipid Hypothesis?

I've had 3 previous Dr that obviously believed in Lipid hypothesis "wholeheartedly".

Anyone have a Dr. in the SF Bay area that hasn't bought the lipid hypothesis? All three failed to discover that most of my problems were pre-pre-diabetes (fasting glucose ~100, DIY GTT borderline), and instead put me on the statins for a few years.

And mention of SEAS, NHANCE, JUPITER, GISSI cholesterol studies just got me a reply that Framingham PROVED once and for all that high cholesterol causes heart disease and that I shouldn't be reading Time magazine for my health info (I don't, and I'm a scientist that went to a little tech school in Cambridge).

I don't want to argue with someone who doesn't see the difference between correlation and causality. Someone that isn't into homeopathy, healing crystals, and megadoses of vitamin (C,D,E,etc) either.

One of my pts is yoga teacher like Sara Godfried MD -- google her and her blog. Rich Stagliano is very approachable (and HAWWWT). THese 2 are in the Bay Area. Todd LePine is available on Skyppe if you can't get to Mass. Dr. Tourgeman is in Florida -- nephropal.com (they are this post exc Kenny Tourgeman): http://drbganimalpharm.blogspot.com/2011/03/bstards-of-mainstreamr-evolutionary.html

You might want to talk with Chris Krisser in Berkeley. He is a paleo kind of practitioner. http://chriskresser.com/about/ Author of the http://thehealthyskeptic.org/

Jimmy Moore has a listing of low carb friendly doctors listed by state: http://lowcarbdoctors.blogspot.com/

Sounds like you interested in an integrative provider -- I see one in Walnut Creek but here are a few in the Bay Area: see my blog animal pharm or 'evolutionary medicine' tags. I met Chris once and he seems great as well.

If the doc does not know what a BHL or VAP is, then run. Run as fast as you can haa aah High LDL does not mean a thing. It actually can be protective as it is in French centenarians in one study and others.

It is good you've conducted your self research. I am big fan of the results of the trials you just listed. Lyon Heart (see Whole Health Source, stephan) is also another good one -- showed that ALA, n-3 from veggies beat the crap out of the statin arm (e.g. placebo arm) in preventing all-cause and CAD related mortality! The LDL STAYED THE SAME...

Well I can't say for sure but I met a new doc on Monday and one of the first things I said to him was that I've been low carb for 15 years and currently follow a Paleo eating plan and he shook his head (up and down) and said "Oh good!" That was as far as we went. I don't actually engage in conversation about my diet. You're either on board or you're fired. Still he had the opportunity to object and he did not and in fact seemed pleased. You can email them and state that you need a doc....however you want to present it. Now I don't have any health markers out of normal range so I'm not sure what his reaction might have been if I had but he's young and very athletic and seemed open minded and most importantly well aware that I drive the bus.

His name in Michael Zimmerman and he's in Oakland. He's an MD and I saw not signs of crystals or anything the slightest bit alternative. Might be worth a shot inquiring anyway.
