After doing so well on the Whole 30 - I have just found out there is now a concern with my cholestoral (something that was never a concern in the past). I really don't know what to do.

I had a similar experience. After 2 months of being primal my cholesterol raised 40 points. My doctor wanted me to test it again 6 months later and it was back to normal. Cholesterol's response to weight loss is not well studied -- and there are conflicting studies on both sides, and they typically are the result of very unhealthy behavior -- i.e. starvation diets, anorexia, etc. -- or they are looking too far down the line, 10-20 weeks.

Here's one: http://circ.ahajournals.org/content/3/6/864.full.pdf

Key expert -- "Forty plasma cholesterol determinations were made during the period of rapid weight reduction; twenty-seven were lower and thirteen higher than earlier control levels."

However, almost all of the research shows that restricting carbs and exercising both, additively, decrease triglycerides. Given that the friedwald formula is based on a linear relationships between TC, HDL, and Trigs, a reduction in trigs will be associated with an increase in LDL estimation.

My advise is, if you have not had cholesterol problems in the past, talk with your doctor about giving it some time, and checking again in 6 months
